About Yasmeen Siddiqui
I created Minerva Edits because we are at a crossroads—a moment where content rules yet we lack patience as readers. This contradiction undermines the work of artists and the institutions supporting them. If we are to craft prose that accurately conveys the work of artists and exhibition spaces, what needs to be expressed requires consideration. Our writing is rich in art historical context and references, forward-thinking, and free of jargon and buzzwords that fade over time. This is crucial not only for engaging audiences, but also for creating an enduring archive that will serve future researchers, collectors, curators, and historians.
My editorial practice has afforded me the privilege of working closely with distinguished institutions, artists, and writers, including Jean Shin, Jaune Quick-To-See Smith,, Alev Ersan, Bhanu Kapil, Elaine Feeney, Sarah Demeuse, and BMoCA (Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art). These collaborations, which have encompassed a range of editorial services from content refinement to bilingual editions, reflect my commitment to delivering comprehensive, nuanced support at every stage of the process. Whether fine-tuning complex narratives, ensuring cultural and linguistic accuracy, or managing the intricacies of multidisciplinary projects, I bring a wealth of experience to help shape and amplify ideas.
As the founder of Minerva Projects, a nonprofit art press, I have focused on fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and supporting innovative publications. At Minerva, I have edited a wide range of works, collaborated with translators on multilingual projects, and overseen the entire publishing process—from fundraising and board development to navigating complex distribution networks. This extensive experience has deepened my expertise in long-form editing.
I have successfully assisted in the submission of numerous grant and artist residency applications, including for prestigious programs such as the Andy Warhol Foundation, Graham Foundation, Ucross, Yaddo, MacArthur X-Grant, Polish Cultural Institute, NY, and ArtPlace. In service to the field, I have also sat on several juries, including Creative Capital, Art Omi, 3Arts, and the Tulsa Artist Fellowship. I am particularly inspired by the intersections of literature and visual arts—dynamic spaces where creativity unfolds, and ideas evolve.
